FULL WORKSHOP TITLE:

small modifications, could we imagine public spaces as shared gardens of co-exisiting pluralities, where people are user-maker-carer-hackers all at the same time?

Who are we / Wer sind wir ?

Hey! I am xin from small workshop, we like to walk around and see what non-specialists do with the stuff around them – small modifications in daily life, a kind of ‘hacking with materials’. http://small-workshop.info

What will we do / Was werden wir machen ?

  • What can we learn from small modifications and everyday resourcefulness around us?

  • What parallels could we draw between hacking in the digital and physical spaces?

  • How could the makeshift creations from others be inspiring for our own lives?

  • Could we hallucinate public spaces as shared gardens of co-exisiting pluralities, where people are user-maker-carer-hackers all at the same time?

A hands-on, generative workshop that invites your participation on finding answers to these questions. We will draw inspiration from a resource* of lo-tech hacking/making-doing gathered from Asia-Pacific, Europe and Mexico City. We will experiment with using them as tactics and tools in our daily lives; share our improvisations and try out some 3D-mapping-kinetic techniques.

Through all the doing and sharing, could we gain new ways of seeing and being with the worlds around us, virtual and physical?

Time, Place & Supplies / Zeit, Ort und Ausstattung

2 hours. Maybe a table, but used cardboard boxes are ok too. Old bike tyres for the local workshop. Outdoor space is also fine.
