STRUCTURE

Introduction

  • Short introduction of the challenge by the facilitator

Baseline 2015 and Vision 2050

  • How do designers currently design products? What do they consider? Where do they get information/briefing from? How are the products currently produced (assembly of products)? How can designers interact with the producers?
What changes for product designers if we consider “products as services”?
  • What is our vision for 2050? e.g. 100% proactive design for cyclability; 100% mono-material products? 100% Open source Design Techniques for Circular Products

Roadmap from 2015 to 2050

  • Who needs to be involved?
  • What is needed to achieve the vision? E.g. education/information for designers: Material Database/Guidelines/Tools; closer cooperation between designers and sourcing and sustainability department; proactive design for cyclability - also important for upcycling designers (e.g. design for disassembly, mono-material design techniques etc.), business models, the role of open source
  • What may counteract to achieve the vision and how to remove barriers?
