Reusable Habitus Interacting Zone Opens Multifunctionality
Coming from a theatre and performance backround we try to initiate a circular, open source project to create modular, spatial structures for a multifunctional use - interior and exterior - such as performance, exhibition, conference and workshop. We would like to build temporary spaces insprired by the flexibility, mobility and lightness of tent constructions and rhizomatic structures.
###Tools & Materials we would like to use
textiles (e.g. waterproof), poles, diverse joint systems, buttons, magnets, zippers, rope etc.
The idea is to work with already reused and recycled materials. But where can we find materials that are really circular?
###Transformation
An important aspect is the possibility of transformation in the sense of (ex)change and/or adaption - which also can be parasitical. The modular structure of the ‘pop-up space’ enables a wide range of use and interaction. One aspect could be how one part of the space can be worn as clothes or in a performative way used as a costume.
We think about deconstruction in two ways: material and immaterial which leads to the vision and need of reclaiming cultural values e.g. initiating a circular mindset, sharing knowledge and experience, empowering people etc.
We are interested in provoking playfully different forms of interaction and participatory processes to create a self-perpetuating circular system which is supported by open source principles.

##Process
We decided to get Mero balls (Mero-Kugeln) to base our design on. Then we created own parts which we wanted to combine with the Mero-System.
The task was to combine the Mero balls with M12 thread with poles that have a M16 thread. So we created our own connectors by soldering in version 1 a M12 thread bar to a M16 hat screw nut and in version 2 a M12 flat head screw to a M16 union nut.
First in version 1 we experimented and produced modules that have different angles than the 45° angles, the mero system offers
Then we were struggling and challenged by statics. We had to rethink the connector types and produced a more steady version. Now we have two sets with different types of connectors that we can work with depending on what kind of pole construction is needed.
