Who are we / Wer sind wir ?
Located in Leipzig, Germany, Expanding Focus is specialised in the conception, production and distribution of VR experiences and cinematic VR content. Here at Expanding Focus we create our own productions as well as team up with other creative partners to co-produce VR content. We also provide VR and 360° camera services and studio space for third parties. Expanding Focus works in the fields of documentary, fiction, installations, music and games in the realm of VR and 360° content and experiences.
What will we do / Was werden wir machen ?
We are currently producing a crossmedia VR Series called „Future Diaries“, which is about nothing less than the future of humanity and our earth. In the year 2047 we encounter a world that is far more fragmented than our own. In the aftermath of multiple global financial crises new social groups and movements have emerged that have become increasingly self-reliant. These tendencies have been bolstered by the cryptocurrency known as UTOPIA, which distributes resources in a fair, equal and sustainable manner.
The narrative of Future Diaries claims to be the “real” future of our planet. This is amplified through fake social media profiles, websites and the fact that the narration begins on the users’ social streams. The VR episodes of the series also add an extra layer to this claim as the user is literally transported to another place through the VR glasses. The VR experience itself leads the user again back to a web platform which contains further information about the storyworld, connects the users with each other, grows the community and gives the user the possibility to invest in the project – with either time or money.
We believe we can be among the first to realize a high-quality project of this scope. Furthermore, the project’s unique combination of Suddenlife Gaming and VR and blending of the future and present are one-of-a-kind. At OSCEdays in Berlin we would love to present our work so far and meet up with people who think likewise.
