OSCEdays Call for Local Organisers & Community Builders
ENGLISH (below), SPANISH
OSCEdays is an open and distributed community exploring Open Source for Circular Economy. One of the most important ways to connect globally and locally is to enable and invite people to organise local events. In the past 2 years over 75 local groups in 75 cities got engaged.
Think about setting up an event? Learn more below.
What Kind Of Event?
There is no minimum or maximum size for your event. It can be very small with just some friends meeting for an afternoon or very large with activities for several days or weeks, tickets and hundreds of people.
What about content? There is no mandatory methodology. You can have talks, workshops or any other format exploring Open Source Circular Economy. On our forum you can find documentation of circular solutions and experiments you can use as content in your event. And you can help to grow this collection with your event.
Pick A Date
Feel free to pick the date you want for your event. We will communicate it on the main page of the OSCEdays and through our social media channels.
Sometimes we also announce dates (for example global JUNE dates) and invite people to all run an event at the same time thus allowing us to also activate new ways to connect locations for example through video.
Organise & Communicate
How to communicate an event? How to organise it? How to fund it? As a local organiser you’ll run eventually in all of these questions. In the EVENT organisation category we provide resources to help you answer them. You will find for example:
We have also a category called OSCEdays TV with tutorials and ideas how you can document your event with video – and for example send a live stream from it or use video live streams to connect it to other cities.
Sign Up Your OSCEdays Event
To plug in your event into the OSCEdays network follow the procedure below. However signing up an event is not necessary to use any OSCEdays resources or the platform.
To sign up your event you need to create a little topic about on the OSCEdays forum. No worries. The forum might look complicated at first but it isn’t. Here is little video tutorial about it.
STEP 1 – Find Your City Category
Find the purple category with the name of your city. If there is none for your city yet use the 'New City' category on top of the list of city categories.
Enter this category and click on ‘New Topic’ button on the top right.
STEP 2 – Enter A Topic Name
Give your topic a name for example:
’OSCEdays London – September 12-16, 2017’
STEP 3 – Fill In The Template
Below is a grey box with a template. Just copy the text into your topic and fill in the information. Save as often as you like. You can always make changes to the topic by clicking on the pen icon on the right side at the bottom of the topic.
T E M P L A T E
/ Delete this & replace it with your welcome sentence like: ’Hi, welcome to OSCEdays YOUR CITY’. You can add also an image. /
/ Replace this with 3 or 4 sentences about your and/or your organization. Provide a link if there is one. /
/ Replace this with a short description of what you plan to do like. Please make clear in what way your event is about Open Source Circular Economy. Provide links for example to an external event website if you have one. /
#Date & Location
/ Add your event date and location. /
/ Add info and links on your program – for example what ACTIONS do you plan to play with. /
/ Add some contact info. How to get in touch with you? /
Improve and extend your topic as you like. You can add headlines for example about partners or how to join. Add images of your team or venue.
You can use your local language if you like. And you can play with a transparent workflow – publish announcements, meetings and so on (see Berlin example) or even transform the topic into a wiki to allow others to edit it together with you.
If you have more questions please ask them below in the comments.
If you encounter problems with signing up to the forum send an email to the current onboarding team (= General Inquiry).
This registering procedure was established in October 2016. For that reasons you won’t find information in a lot of city categories like this, yet.
